Well I was at it again, inspired by a couple people I talked to at some parties (thanks Simon and Haley- sp?) I made another long like of cars video. All it takes is a couple people telling me that they dug my first short and I am out doing it agin. Where in the first short I passed a bunch of cars on my ride in the morning out from Maple Ridge to the city, this time I passed a bunch of cars going the other way.

Normally I pass a number of cars when I commute and each one feels great. This time was absolutely amazing as I passed almost 10 km of cars in line waiting to go somewhere, anywhere, but forward.

Ahh... bicycle = freedom

Your video is inspiring. It brought a tear to my eye. Keep up the good work.

Hey, thanks for the good word. Its LQ (low quality) and all but I still dig it each time I watch it, and I made the bloody thing!

I can't speak for everyone, but if I am in a car sitting in traffic and a cyclist blows by me like that I get these total feelings of guilt, because I know that should be me blowing by those cars!

Dude, I wanna see a video of some cyclocross.

Yes, well cyclo-cross is the new fixed. now I just need to make a fixed cyclocross then I will regain my title as the most hard core f$%#ker around

That was amazing Wease.

Theres only one section on my commute where I can do that, and it doesn't last nearly as long (Northbound on Commercial).

I love the feeling of knowing that a car cannot touch my speed along certain routes. ...yet for some reason, they try.

Theres the big pass where I can hear their trottle body wide open sucking in that tastey air to muscle 3000lbs past me, only to snap it shut and hit the brakes within a block.. Then they disappear behind me, only to be replaced by another doing the same thing a few lights later.

Don't get me wrong, cars have a time and place. Its just not this time or this place.

I just watched it again and noticed the curb hop at the 44 second point. YEAH!

When I was a kid I wanted to be a race car driver, so part of me has an adoration of going fast in 3000lbs casing.

That said, when I pass them under my own power, it is absolutely glorious!

I'm totally spreading this around on the internet.

Boo ya.

My brutha, That was a video long overdue. To the uninitiated, they would ask 'how does he find such a long line of cars to film?' Its not luck, sparky, its the sad reality of our city! Seems unreal when you see the bulk of it in a minute. My rides now film pretty boring- occasional dog, some deer, a black bear maybe, a road carpetted in grasshoppers sometimes, rabbits and squirrels, but shit squat for cars. Jealous? Got a place for you to stay, "bring yer bike, we'll ride around" (K. Costner, Am. Flyers, c.1985)

Very cool vid man! I had to blog it.
I'm not sure I could find such a large amount of cars to pass without being passed again - guess my fitness has slipped and living in the suburbs doesn't help. One day I might get hold of a helmet cam and give it a go myself.
