On the last Friday of every month, the velo people of Vancouver (that means the bike lovers) assemble 5:30pm at the Vancouver Art Gallery for Critical Mass -- a showcase of bike love and a statement about biking and sustainability. They ride around, raising awareness which culminates at the ANZA Club for one of the craziest bicycle afterparties in the city. With entertainment and acts of all sorts, Velofusion is a dose of East Van Community, Activism and Spirit.

DJ Timothy Wisdom is always on hand as this is one of his favourite events each month. Nothing in the dance community works better than combining high energy music with passion and meaning. The result is fun in it's best form: honest, true and free.

It's time for the Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition's (VACC's) 7th annual PITCH-IN CANADA clean-up event. Working under the motto of "you never know whose flat tire you may be preventing," the VACC will be cleaning up part of the Trans Canada Trail near the Second Narrows Bridge this year. We hope you can join us.

Agents Of Change presents Riding To Break The Cycle. Bring your bicycle and join us for a mass ride as we peddle through downtown Vancouver to draw attention to our cause before our group continues on a 3000 mile bicycle ride from Vancouver, BC, to Tijuana, Mexico to raise money for microcredit to help people in struggling communities to raise them selves out of peverty.

Offered by PEDAL (Pedal Energy Development Alternatives), an organization that develops and promotes the use of pedal powered technology, on the first Thursday of every month from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. The course covers drivetrain maintenance, brake and gear adjustment and flat tire repair. Courses are held at Our Community Bikes, 3283 Main Street near 17th Avenue.

Cost is $40 plus tax. Bring your bike and a snack.

Join us for a panel discussion with Dr. Larry Frank, architect Peter Busby and transportation engineer Lon LaClaire. Dr. Frank, the Bombardier Chair holder in Sustainable Transportation at UBC's School of Community and Regional Planning, specializes in the interaction between land use, travel behaviour, air quality and health. Mr. Busby will comment on the relationship between parking and the development and financing of higher density housing and Mr. LaClaire will focus on density and transit.
