I have been told before I am a giver, although not in the same context as here. Ahem. Anyway, I got an email request a few weeks ago to use one of my critical mass photos (Lions Gate Bridge) in a small, socially conscious, publication out in Ontario. I hadn't heard of them before, but they seemed legit so I gladly passed along a copy of the original. As part of the usage, was a fee they pay to photographers. Since I license all my event photos under the creative commons, I didn't feel right taking money, so I got them to donate the fee to a local bike advocacy charity.
I found out today where they sent the fee...

Email Update
Hi Wease, I'd like to send you a comp copy of Geez No. 5 where we published your critical mass photo (bikes on bridge).
What's your mailing address.
As requested, we will likely donate the fee to Natural Cycle (http://www.naturalcycle.ca/). They are a hard-core cycle-only, year-round courier company and bike shop which functions as a worker cooperative. They promote bikes not for sport but for transportation; they encourage re-using old bikes and DIY repairs. That said, they're top notch mechanics, specializing in single speed/fixie conversions and wheel building.
I'd like to give it to the "bike dump" but I think they're so non-commercial that they just take material goods. Maybe in the spirit of Wease I'll drop off a good, used, but basic 10-speed frame (with handlebars, cranks and brakes).
Also, I'm aware of your request for 200 words for your blog. I'll need to do this when I get back from a week-long (bus) trip to Ontario and back for a board meeting.
Thanks again for the use of the photo,
