St. Valentine Alleycat

For all you cool bike wielding hipsters out there, there is only one place to be on St. Valentine's day:

I'm starting to have second thoughts about this race.

A week ago I was doored, and strained a muscle in my shoulder, so I'm not feeling 100% yet.. and I don't know if I want to risk it.

The prizes look good though.
Rumours of a Crumpler bag, and Hand Polished Deep Vees.. as well as a 'big' prize from Mighty.

I think a few guys are going to be going balls out for those wheels though, so I probably don't stand a chance.

I will give it a shot... but I have a low gearing so its hard to say how I will fair (i don't feel like dropping $40 just to get a bigger ring.

Never done an Alleycat before... how brutal are ppl? Does anyone know? I know its not offically full contact, but what's the real deal? For example, road Crits can often be nasty affairs... Out east ppl would often lean a knee out and pop your handle bars to try and make you crash. I have seen it all. Hell i can remember this one giant dude (6 foot 4, 200 pounds) try to run me into the curb on every damn turn apex. He would just ride up beside me then try to bump me into curb because he had the weight advantage. Brutal shit..

Anyway does anyone know if ppl are friendly?

actually i hear that its less of an alleycat and more of a scavenger hunt. dont bother me as im going for DFL... hehe

Cool... thanks for the update nik_cee. I will be looking forward to having my ass kicked on the scavenger hunt. Hehehe I still don't know all the streets in downtown, I just wander my way around. Should be some good times.

Plenty of pictures to come

side note: first 3 fixed gear riders to come up and say 'hi!' to me on saturday get a www.fixed.org.au 'the anti-coast' sticker. i managed to get some sent from the land down under and promised to spread the word.

as a hint to my identity this is my bike:

its had a few 'updates' since the photos, but still looks essentially the same.

I've been flip flopping on this race more than the Surly hubs of the same name.

..but as of right now... I'm in.
My friend n1ck and I are going to hit it team stylez.
