My first Fixed Century(sort of)

Well kids,My friend Jesse and I rode the Tour de Cure on our fixies! It was mad fun! First of all we were the only SS bikes in the gathering. We received various comments that ranged from "You guys are crazy!" to "You guys are the REAL bikers!" One dude even asked why I would want to ride a bike that you couldn't stop pedaling? I asked him why would he WANT to stop pedaling? Anyway,we only rode 75 miles due to some violent thunderstorms and power outages in the area. But the crazy headwinds that we rode through for the majority of the 75 miles made up for the lost 25. If I said I wasn't exhausted by the time we got back I'd be lying.
Oh and I discovered that my choice of saddle was not the best. I guess that's how you find those things out! GZ

Nice Epic ride... the century will be yours shortly.

As for the blue balls, its all wrong!!! I ride on a Koobi Saddle which I won at the 24 hours of Summer Solstice a couple yrs ago.

They are expensive but if I had to I would flip my own coin to get that saddle again. Contact points (ass, feet, hands) are worth the cash as you start to do big miles.

Wow Weas' that saddle cost REAL money! Could you just win another one and hook a brotha' up? For real now,I will flip mt own coin in that direction. Anything to never have to deal with the ill fitting saddle- YEEOW!

GZ,

Friend of mine wants me to ride in Tour de Cure, Loveland to Estes Park (75 miles). Lots of climbing. I am thinking of riding the fixie. Any suggestions on gearing and any other advice would be helpful.

I am afraid the decents will be very scary.

thanks,

DO IT!!! You'll be glad you did. I don't know what kind of terrain you'll be riding but I'll bet 42-18 would work.I'm not an expert, mind you. Decents are alot eaiser to control on a fixie than you would think. DO IT!!!
